This was stated by Chairman ABAD, Engr. Farooq-uz-Zaman Khan. He was speaking on the occasion of signing of Memorandum of Understanding between ABAD and Ecommerce Gateway for organizing seminars on housing finance, alternate energy and Build Asia Exhibition.

The construction industry is mother of 72 allied industries which are dependant on the construction activities for their production. This economic cycle provides the launching pad for enhancing economic activities, said Farooq-uz-Zaman, and in this regard the Government has to address the impediments faced by construction industry on preferential basis.

Chairman ABAD said a seminar on Housing Finance will be organized in February this year and Governor State Bank of Pakistan Syed Saleem Raza has consented to chair this seminar. It is expected that World Bank Advisor for South Asia on Housing Finance will also attend. Experts will read working papers on Housing Finance and Affordable Housing.

The seminar on Construction and Building Material will be held at ABAD House with the support of Ecommerce Gateway. And in July this year the annual Build Asia Exhibition will be held with the support of ABAD.

On this occasion Saleem Kassim Patel, Regional Chairman ABAD said that in Pakistan that in GDP the share of Construction Industry is only 2.5% which is very less as compared to the neighboring countries and only way to increase this is by diverting financial resources to Housing and construction industry. This will also provide immense support to Governments vision of providing one million houses to the shelter less.
